This "Beacom Blossom" was originally performed in the World Figure Championships in Toronto a few years ago, at which I became World Figure Champion. The full figure has three turns, brackets, and loops. Even practiced without turns, however, the basic exercise with changes of edge from one circle to the other is excellent to develop balance, strength, and efficient motion. More specifically, twist the spine freely so that shoulders rotate against hips. Bend and straighten the hip, knee, and ankle joints. Swing the free leg correctly to facilitate changes of edge and maintenance of speed. Lean into the circle and anticipate the lean into the new circle for changes of edge. These actions should be smooth, coordinated, and with ideal tempo. Glide with stability and patience.
